Selling to Businesses When Business Is Slow

Are your sales hurt by the economy? Are you hearing from your
clients repeatedly - “I can’t buy from you right now because business
is slow”?

That phrase can be worth extra money to your business. Here’s how:
the next time someone says “Business is slow”, there’s a great
opportunity to help them. It’s in all of our interests to help good
businesses survive these tough times. It’s also an opportunity to
help yourself.

Give them what they want - MORE CUSTOMERS. You don’t have to know
how to get them more customers yourself. All you need to know is a
quality company that DOES KNOW HOW to get more customers. Did you
know that some companies reward referrals?

My company Jawdrop, Inc. is a Chicago marketing firm that helps
businesses sell more. We work with mom-and-pop and midsized
businesses. We have a new referral program where your referrals may
qualify to get a free, no-obligation consultation. For each one who
becomes a client, you’ll get a generous referral fee. Full details
are scheduled to be on our site next week, but you don’t need to wait.

Send an email to me introducing yourself or phone me for an
application.

Whether you join our referral program or not, hear the opportunity
when people say business is slow and find a way to help them.

Take care, hang in there and maybe even come out of these rough times
stronger!

Best regards,

How to Sell Goods and Services Over the Internet

When a local business decides to go online, they usually take one of their brochures and use that as the basis for their website.  That usually doesn’t cut it. The business doesn’t see any return on investment. They end up believing “The internet doesn’t work.” What’s happening is

The internet isn’t working for them.

Here’s at statistic from Internet Retailer: “Last year online retail sales reached $165.9 billion, an increase of 21.8% from $136.2 billion a year earlier.” That’s just in the retail sector. Businesses are making money online.

Here’s a key piece of information: All businesses need 2 components to in order to sell on the internet.  Without these 2 components, they will fail.   In fact, I don’t know of a single instance where a business thrived online without these 2 components.

Businesses that have these 2 components will rapidly sell goods and services online.  What are these components?  Take a look at the video below to find out.

Why Most Business Websites DON’T Sell

I gave a short internet marketing presentation to a group of business professionals today.   During my talk I showed them one of the major reasons physical businesses don’t make sales  when they put up a website.  Take a look at the clip below. You’re welcome to comment.

What Your Website Designer Won’t Tell You

Most business owners get their first introduction to doing business on the internet from a website designer.   They may look at what the competition is doing and try to do a better website.  By “better” I mean better looking.

The website is designed and put online.  Owners are surprised and dismayed that their website is not bringing more cusomters.  It becomes apparent: Website designers design.

Website designers are not usually marketers.  In order to make a website SELL, you usually will need input from a marketer.  A marketing consultant or marketing specialist is experienced with how to make a website sell.

Where Are Your Customers Hiding?

A client of mine used to attract a large number of new customers for his business from the yellow pages.  Then one day, they were gone.  Disappeared.

At the time, he had a website, but did minimal promotion.  His website brought him 0 sales.  He told me, “I want to hit the internet in a big way.”  That’s what we did.

Here’s the funny thing: once he started looking for his customers on the internet, he found out they were looking for businesses just like his.  They started phoning his business within a week.  Now a substantial portion of his new customers find him on the internet.

When people want to find local businesses, they usually look on the internet.  It’s been said that local business is the future of internet marketing.

Actually it’s just the opposite.  Internet marketing is the future of local businesses.  The store, restaurant or office that doesn’t have a website that sells is going to be left in the cyberdust.  Competitors who know how to use the internet to their advantage will get those new customers.

What’s Your Internet Marketing Strategy for Your Brick and Mortar Business?

In my last post I talked about how most brick and mortar businesses make the mistake of thinking that they’re done once they put up a website.  Let’s talk for a minute about a successful internet marketing strategy for local businesses.

Setting up a website alone just won’t cut it.  Set-it-and-forget it doesn’t work here.

The 7 steps to succeed online is this, in a nutshell:

  1. Put up a website.
  2. Make sure your likely customers find it.
  3. Make sure more of your likely customers find it.
  4. Make the website sell.
  5. Make it sell better.
  6. Build your contacts.
  7. Sell more to your contacts.

I specifically didn’t say which tools to use because they keep changing.  It used to be that you had to have your site show up on Yahoo.  Now Google is the place.  And so it Facebook and Twitter.  It may be different in a year or so.
